Featured Artist of the Week: AIZA SEGUERRA

by wandering attercop

Aiza Seguerra is one of the most admired Original Pilipino Music (OPM) artist. She started her career in showbiz as a child star in the late 80's when she was discovered in a television contest for little girls.

Since then Aiza starred in numerous films and tv shows. She also received awards such as Best Child Actress.

In the late 90's, she temporarily stepped out of showbiz to pursue her studies. In early 2000, Aiza made a come back as an acoustic singer. She had several multi-platinum albums. Her major hit "Pagdating ng Panahon" topped the radio stations' charts and earned music awards.

Aiza is now part of a group called "Sessionistas." This year, she celebrates her 25th year in showbiz. She had an anniversary concert last September 28 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum entitled "Bente Singko." I was fortunate enough to get a good seat even if the tickets are almost sold out.

Her guests include: The Company, Krizza Neri, Sessionistas, Bayang Barrios, Cookie Chua,Gloc 9, Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano and Vic Sotto. Big stars, Maricel Soriano and Sharon Cuneta, were part of the audience. The concert was serenaded by ABS CBN Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Gerard Salonga.

Aiza is dubbed as "Asia's Acoustic Sensation." She continues to produce great albums that promote Original Pilipino Music.

ROBOT ZOO AND PLANETARIUM SHOW AT SCIENCE DISCOVERY CENTER, MALL OF ASIA

by wandering attercop

Last September, I took my daughter to the Science Discovery Center at the Mall of Asia. Entrance fee is P 330 for adults and P 300 for kids. I bought vouchers with a discounted price of P 160 from Metrodeal: http://www.metrodeal.com/

Really a good deal!

We first entered the Robot Zoo located on the 2nd floor. It has different kinds of animals in robot form. Each robot is big enough for the children to check out the details of its parts.

Some have buttons where you can press to move the body parts.

There are also boards for each animal with information on how it moves, habitat and other trivia.

Around the area, there are other trivia posted on the walls all about the animals featured.

Games and other fun activities are also inside where children can enjoy. An activity booklet was also provided for the kids to answer after the tour.

After the Robot Zoo, we took our snack because our Planetarium Show schedule is at 6:40pm. We went back at around 6pm and fortunately, the show is still open for more guests so we were accommodated. The screen is dome-shaped with a 360 degrees view. The seats are slightly tilted backwards for a more comfortable watching. The show's title is "Wonders of the Universe."

There are also other shows available and you may inquire with the information and ticket booths for the schedule.

Overall, the Robot Zoo and Planetarium Show are both fun and educational for the children. It gives important information and trivia about animals and the universe. Aside from the Robot Zoo and Planetarium Show, there are also other features inside the Science Discovery for the children to visit. It is recommended for the whole family and educational trips for schools. For more information on tickets and show schedule, you may check their website: http://www.sciencediscovery.ph/sdc/welcome-sdc
